Hey, Hay Baby!

I've had these pictures for a couple of weeks and haven't shared them yet... The last time Addison was in Arab, there was freshly baled hay in the fields at my parents' house.

The setting made the perfect photo opt but Big Daddy was scared to death that Addi Girl was going to fall right off.

When Mallory, Trey and I were little, we pretty much had free rein of the farm. One of our most favorite things to do was to jump hay bales and play house. When the hay was still fresh and sitting in the field, we would pretend that the hay bales were our houses. We would invite each other over to our "houses" for dinner:)

Eventually my Dad would stack the hay up in a giant pyramid five bales high under the shed. Then we would climb to the very top of the hay pyramid and jump or roll down to the ground.

If my mom would have ever caught us, she would have skinned us alive! Thankfully we survived our hay jumping days fully skinned and unscathed:)

Labor Day - Visitors

We wrapped up our Labor Day weekend with a surprise visit from my friend, Emily. She lives in Jacksonville, Florida so I don't get to see her nearly as often as I would like. While in Alabama for a funeral, she braved the monsoon conditions and made a day trip to come visit.

And, she brought this sweet little nugget with her! Little Nell is the newest addition to the Dostie family. Unfortunately big sister Leighton didn't make the trip to Alabama and stayed home with her Daddy. Addi Girl couldn't get enough of Nell. She wanted to pat her and rock her and kiss her...maybe Addi is ready to be a big sister soon herself:)

It was so fun catching up with Em. It was just like old times! Oh how I wish she lived closer!

Labor Day - Victory...Barely.

On Saturday, Brad and I headed South to The Plains while Addison enjoyed a day with her Nana and Big Daddy.

Our Auburn Tigers barely squeaked out a "W". It may be a very long season for us Auburn fans.

My favorite part of game day is the pregame rituals when the eagle flies and the band marches across the field. I'll be honest. When the eagle soars around the stadium and the crowd cheers I get a little teary eyed every time.

Auburn is such a special place for Brad and me. It is where we fell in love and made friendships that will last a lifetime. We had such a great "date day" reminiscing old times. It almost felt like we were relieving our college days all over again.

Labor Day - The Royal Family

Step aside William and Kate...there is a new royal family in town!

Five new lion cubs made their debute at the Birmingham Zoo this weekend and Addi Girl was there to see them.

She couldn't have been more happy to see those little cubs...and the giraffes, and the zebras, and the monkeys....

Addi Girl loves all the animals at the zoo EXCEPT for the roosters in the Alabama Barn Exhibit:) She gets terrified when they "Cock a Doodle Dooo!"

And if she could pick one animal to take home with her it would be the baby goats:)
