Pancakes and the Park

Last Sunday, we loaded up and headed downtown for breakfast at The Original Pancake House with The Tew Crew and Aunt Mal and Uncle Steven who were still in town for Addi's bday party.
The Original Pancake House is located in historic Five Points South and home to the Storyteller Fountain.

Addi loves anything to do with water and/or animals. Combine the two and this little girl is in heaven! The only thing that she would have liked more would be to splash around in that nasty fountain water (I think I spotted a piece of a dirty diaper floating around).

Walker and Kathryn

After we gluttoned ourselves on pancakes and said "Goodbye" to The Tew Crew, we headed to the park with Aunt Mal and Uncle Steven.

She cried when when it was time to pack up and leave:(

Party Girl

On Saturday, our friends and family joined us to celebrate Addison's first birthday. Addi Girl seemed to feel a bit overwhelmed at first but eventually warmed up to all the attention.

The inspiration for Addi's party was the hand-painted watercolor invitation above by Joanna at Unink Design. I can not say enough good things about Joanna's amazing talent and outstanding customer service! Please keep her in mind the next time you need any type of papergoods. You will not be disappointed!!

Big thanks to Kala for teaching me how to make the paper tissue party balls (although, mine did not turn out as good as hers!)

On the menu: Owl's Nests (aka Butterscotch Haystacks), Baby Owl Brownies, Worms in Dirt, Spinach Dip, Chicken Salad, Pimento Cheese and Hummus.

I bought the flowers wholesale from Davis Wholesale Floral and arranged them myself the morning of the party. Added bonus...the flowers were half-off from Valentine's Day overstock!

Edgar's Bakery made the cake and I was pleased with how it turned out (even if it was supposed to be different colors:) The inside was yummy fresh strawberry.

Icing On The Cookie made the adorable iced owls for the party favors. Aren't they cute?

Addison didn't know what to think when everyone started singing Happy Birthday to her. She tried to blow out her candle but she needed a bit of help;)

Addi wasted no time digging into her cake. Her response, "Ummmm".

Addison received so many beautiful including a complete spring/summer wardrobe. But, her favorite gift was a babydoll stroller from Aunt Mal and Uncle Steven that she has pushed all over the house.

I can't believe my sweet Baby Girl is ONE!!! It just doesn't seem possible. I just want to freeze time so she will stay this precious forever.

"Lord look down from heaven above and bless this special child with love. Protect and guide this little one until each and every day is done. Remind us often that it's true: This little life is a gift from you. A miracle You've sent our way. Lord bless this little child."

We've Moved!

The week before Christmas, we loaded up and moved back to Sweet Home Alabama. If you think we are crazy to move during the holidays, you would be right.

Now it is six weeks later and the last box is finally unpacked but we are still a long way off from being "settled."

There are pictures and curtains to be hung and endless amounts of sheetrock dust to be mopped up.

For the last two weeks, there has been a never-ending parade of contractors and painters in and out of our house while we make a few minor cosmetic touch-ups. I'm over it.

Brad is still working in NC and racking up frequent flier miles to and from Alabama. We miss him a lot and can't wait for him to be home full time.

Addi Girl has gone from infant to toddler since the last time I posted. She is running around in circles and keeping me in stitches. I think she may be a little comedian like her Daddy. Stay tuned and I will give you an update on all her latest antics:)

AND I will try to catch you up on what we have been up to lately.

In the meantime, here are some pics from our visit to the park last weekend. Addi liked the swings, the slide - and most of all - the rocks. She thought they were delicious:)
